Identify Cases

To identify individual cases in a display, open a variable that holds the names or identities of the cases and make it frontmost among all variable windows. Use the query (?) tool to click on points in a scatterplot, boxplot, dotplot, parallel coordinate plot, or rotating plot. The point identity will be shown. If no identifying variable is open, the case number is displayed.

If multiple cases overlap, successive clicks will show their identities.

If multiple identifying variables are open Shift-Option click shows text from all of them.

When one of these displays is open and frontmost, the Modify > Selection > Show Identifying text command will place on the plot the identities of all selected cases.

When text has been shown to identify a case, the Special > Web Search Query command searches the internet for that text.
